Not far from the ancient city of Vyazma, on a hill, there is a small village. The village is small and there were 2 temples. The city grew, the village became a suburb. There began to settle masters and merchants. Then it was decided to dismantle 2 small wooden churches, and instead build one, stone and larger. In 1749, the new temple was consecrated. It had 2 chapels. The lower chapel is dedicated to the introduction of the Virgin into the temple, and the upper one is dedicated to the Manifestation of God. In 1762, a bell tower was built with the money of parishioners.
The city continued to grow. In the second half of the 19th century, everyone forgot about the village, and the area became prestigious and prosperous. The temple was small. Then they decided to add more to it. In 1862, the chapels of 2 Tikhonov appeared: Zadonsky and Kaluga.
Although the composition of the original temple is traditional, the eight on a quadruple, the later extensions greatly changed the appearance of the building. And only multi-tiered and decorative elements allow you to guess the Naryshkin baroque in it.
After the revolution, the temple was unlucky. First, in 1922, all valuables were seized, and in 1937 they were closed altogether. The building was given to a museum and a school.
During the Patriotic War, the church was not damaged, but after it got. Then the locksmiths will arrange, then generally disco club.
Only in 1992 the building was returned to the churches. It was restored for 2 years, and since 1994 services have resumed.
