The history of monasteries in Russia is often full of miracles and unusual cases. Danilov Monastery is no exception.
This is the oldest Moscow monastery. The year of its creation is 1282. The monastery was founded at the behest of the Moscow Prince Daniel, the son of Alexander Nevsky. The temple of Daniel Stolpnik was built. But the son of Prince Daniel, Ivan Kalita, covered the monastery. Monks were taken to the Kremlin and buildings abandoned. The tomb of Prince Daniel was lost among others. But then the prince began to appear to his descendants, their entourage, and ordinary people. By order of Ivan the Terrible, the monastery was reopened. In 1561, its stone cathedral was consecrated. He was dedicated to the Holy Fathers of the Seven Ecumenical Councils. In 1652 the relics of Prince Daniel were found. He was made a saint. The history of the monastery is full of testimonies about miracles that were performed and performed through prayers to the noble prince.
Temples
The monastery was constantly expanding, completed and rebuilt. The modern appearance was formed in the 19th century.
Trinity Cathedral Life-giving
This is the main temple of the monastery. It was built for 5 years, from 1833 to 1838. The temple was consecrated by Metropolitan Philaret, who was later listed as a saint.
Numerous miraculous icons are kept in the cathedral, as well as:

Ark with a particle of the relics of St. Alexander Nevsky
Relics of 200 Orthodox saints and saints of God
The Shroud of the Position in the Coffin
Church of the Holy Fathers of the Seven Ecumenical Councils
This temple is the oldest. It consists of 3 churches: the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, the Holy Fathers of the Seven Ecumenical Councils and Daniel the Stylite.
After many years of oblivion, the restoration of the temple began with the Intercession Church. Now it strikes with beauty, as if it had not been in it for many years a plant for the production of metal products.
In all 3 churches there are relics of saints and miraculous icons.
Church of the Nativity of John the Forerunner
Consecrated in 1988, the temple resembles churches in caves. It is located in the basement of the Trinity Cathedral. Natural light comes through a single window. In this temple the sacrament of confession takes place.
Temple of Seraphim of Sarov
In the course of restoration work, a church in the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov was built in the basement of the hospital building. By this time, quite a few items related to this saint had been donated to the monastery.
Now in the temple there is a particularly revered icon of the elder, with a particle of his relics. There is also a particle of the relics of Mother Matrona inserted into her icon.
Temple of Simeon the Pillar
Simeon Stilpnik is considered the first ascetic who stood on a pillar with prayer. A small gate church was built in his honor in the 18th century. It is part of the ensemble of the Holy Gate and the bell tower.
In the church, the main place is occupied by the icon of the saint. A portion of his relics is stored in the sacristy.
The Church of All Saints in the Land of Russia
This house church is located in the residence of the Patriarch. Consecrated in 1988. Made according to Byzantine traditions.
Holy well.
The overlay chapel was built on the site of the old Holy Well, which was destroyed under Soviet rule. This arched structure, small and light, harmoniously fit into the architecture of the monastery. The water in the well comes from an artesian well.
The monastery complex is considered to include several chapels behind its fence.
In all churches services are conducted, but the sacraments of weddings and baptisms are not performed, and funerals are not held.
