The grandson of Genghis Khan, the son of Jochi, Tsarevich Dair Kaidagul lived at the headquarters of his uncles: Batu, and then Berke. There he met the Bishop of Rostov, Kirril. The stories of the bishop so fascinated the young man that he returned with him to Russia. There, struck by churches and icons, Dair Kaydagul accepted Orthodoxy and became known as Peter.
His life was spent in fasting and prayer, but he remained a secular person. He was rewarded for his efforts: a vision. Peter and Paul, the apostles, appeared to him. Blessed for the construction of the monastery. The monk laid a monastery on the shore of Lake Nero, called it Petrovsky.
The Tatar prince became friends with the Rostov prince Boris. So strong that they were officially declared brothers in the church. Peter married and had many offspring. But his faith only grew stronger over the years. Therefore, after the death of his wife, he took tonsure and went to live in a monastery.
The monk died in old age, in 1280. His worship began in the 14th century. The relics were stored under a bush in the cathedral temple of the Petrovsky monastery. Their fate is currently unknown.
