Emperor Numerian reigned less than 2 years, and brought many troubles. He persecuted Christians and forced them to sacrifice to pagan gods. Some gave in and others happily accepted death for Christ. The latter included Falaley. He was arrested and brought to the governor of Aegea. He was amazed by the beauty of the young man and his education. Falaley received a medical education, his family was noble and had weight. Therefore, the ruler tried to persuade the young man to renounce his faith. But Falaley refused. He said he was honored to die for Christ the Savior.
An angry ruler devised a terrible execution. He ordered Thalaleus’ legs to be drilled, a rope to be put into the hole, and so hung him upside down. However, the soldiers who were to do so, Alexander and Asterius, were Christians. They hung a piece of wood. They were beaten and then killed.
Then the governor ordered Thalaleus to be drowned, but nothing came of it. In the end, his head was cut off.
