NPO FOUNDATION FOR SPIRITUAL AND MORAL PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

HOLY LAND

An Investment in the Soul!

There is a birth certificate.

There is a death certificate.

But where is the certificate of life?

Mikhail Zhvanetsky

The Foundation’s Mission

To help each of us earn that certificate of life!
Through spiritual and moral personal development and assistance to people in need.

The Foundation’s Principles

🗸 Enlighten;
🗸 Help;
🗸 Cooperate;
🗸 Invest in the soul

-Invest in the soul,
Stop for a moment and listen!
Would you make an investment today?
Invest today
And you will immediately
Receive dividends for your soul.
“An investment in the soul?”
“I have never heard of that,”
The man replies to me.
“Of course you have not,
For your soul does not yet ache;
Only the head, lent for a time, is aching.
Time will wear your body away,
And one day no one will need it,
In time, the grass will grow over it…
But your soul
Will pass into eternity,
And without an investment
It may condemn itself to eternal suffering.
So take time to reflect:
The body is not eternal, and time has an end,
Yet this is where you choose to invest…

Pilgrimage Tours from Moscow

The Holy Land Foundation for Spiritual and Moral Personal Development considers fundraising for pilgrimage tours to be one of its principal activities. These journeys are intended primarily for the following groups:

  • Students of parish and Sunday schools,
  • People with disabilities
  • Large families,
  • Children living in orphanages,
  • Children from single-parent families,
  • Low-income families
  • Students of theological seminaries
  • Clergy and workers of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Holy Land Foundation Organises Charitable Pilgrimage Tours

Holy Land - is the first Orthodox charitable foundation in Russia devoted to spiritual and moral personal development through free group pilgrimages to holy places and important Orthodox shrines. It is important to us to raise young people in the Orthodox tradition and to build a strong moral foundation for people who honour their roots, preserve their nation’s cultural traditions and live according to the Orthodox faith.

Our goals are to:

  • Nurture spiritual values through the lives and service of Christian saints
  • Develop an understanding of Orthodox tradition through participation in divine services
  • Help both young people and older generations strengthen their spiritual values
  • Encourage the study and dissemination of Orthodox culture through its architectural, literary and craft traditions.

The Holy Land Charitable Foundation enables socially vulnerable people to take part in pilgrimage journeys.
We raise funds for groups of 40–50 people. Trips depart from Moscow and travel throughout Russia and to destinations abroad.

Fundraising for Charitable Pilgrimage Tours:

The Holy Land Charitable Foundation sincerely thanks everyone who supports this worthy cause.

You may also purchase a pilgrimage tour for yourself and your family.

One-day trips around the Moscow Region and neighbouring areas are also available. Details can be found under Projects and Fundraising.

Every journey organised by our foundation follows a carefully planned route and is accompanied by an Orthodox guide and priest. Visiting important Orthodox shrines can become a profound milestone in a person’s spiritual and moral development.

During pilgrimages, participants may attend the morning Divine Liturgy and evening services. Those who wish may go to confession and receive Holy Communion. Time is also set aside for solitude, prayer and conversation with a priest.

Pilgrimage to Jerusalem

Everyone who reads the Bible knows the Holy Land as a country of sacred memory. For more than two thousand years Orthodox pilgrims have travelled here. The Annunciation, the Nativity of Christ, the Presentation of the Lord, the Baptism of Jesus Christ and His Transfiguration on Mount Tabor all took place in this land. Here the Saviour walked, preached and performed His great miracles; here the Last Supper took place, and here He endured betrayal, the trial before Pontius Pilate, the Way of the Cross and the Crucifixion. A pilgrimage to the Holy City of Jerusalem is a journey into the very history of Christianity.

Pilgrimage to Mount Athos, Greece

Mount Athos (Greek: Ἄθως; officially the Holy Mountain, Άγιον Όρος) is both a 2,033-metre peak and a peninsula in Greek Macedonia, northern Greece.

Pilgrimage to Greece

Christianity in Greece was founded through the missionary work of the Holy Apostle Paul. He established small Christian communities in Greece – in Neapolis (Kavala), Philippi, Beroea (Veria), Thessaloniki, Athens and Corinth.

Orthodox Greece has given the Christian world many great saints and righteous people, including Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessaloniki, St Gregory Palamas, St Gregory V of Constantinople, Martyr Paraskeva, St Nektarios of Aegina, St John the Russian and St Spyridon of Trimythous.

1

Strengthening spiritual, moral, patriotic and cultural values — these are three of the most important directions of our work.
Spirituality is something we have always been proud of and something that has supported Russia throughout its history. The richness of Russian culture — is the foundation on which we must rely.
