The construction of the temple began in the 19th century, and consecrated it in 1903. It was located on the courtyard of Balaklava Monastery of St. George. They built a temple, as well as the farmstead itself, for pilgrims who were going to the Balaklava monastery.
The building was built in a classic, cruciform style. The central part of 5 classical bulbs is crowned, and the total domes are 11.During the construction, local red bricks and patterned tiles were used.
After the revolution, most of the buildings of the farmstead were confiscated, but the temple was lucky, it was not closed. For a long time, St. George’s Church was the only one in Krasnodar where services were held. In its nearly 120-year history, there hasn’t been a day when a church doesn’t have services.
It is said that in 1942, during the Liturgy, parishioners saw St. George. He went around the temple and promised that it would never close. That’s what happened.
