There is an ancient monastery on Mount Athos Dohiar. And in it there is a miracle-working icon of the 10th century, the Mother of God “Swiftly Obedient”. In 1891, the list from her solemnly, by a procession of the cross, in which 3,000 pilgrims participated, was delivered to the Alexandro-Nevsky Monastery of the Trinity. Met the icon of the Inokini led by the abbess. It happened on June 25, and since then on this day commemorates the event.
The history of the monastery is rather unusual. «» The monastery was created on the donations of the merchant Zakharov. It was founded as a memory of a significant event for Zakharov: the abolition of serfdom. This allowed Fyodor Osipovich to change his life, become a merchant and become rich. A believer, Fyodor Zakharov, was grateful to the Lord for the gift of freedom. He bought the land and donated 50,000 rubles to build the monastery. The heavenly patron of Tsar Alexander II, who abolished serfdom, was St. Alexander Nevsky. The monastery was dedicated to him.
By the beginning of the 20th century, the monastery had several temples: the stone churches of Alexander Nevsky and Nicholas the Wonderworker, the wooden church of Peter the Apostle and the martyr Eugene. They came to worship the icons of the Mother of God, the Most Merciful Savior, the healer of Panteleimon. «Shorthearted» has always been honored. The nuns read the akathist before her every night.
After the revolution, the monastery still existed under the guise of an agricultural artel, but in 1927 it was finally closed, the sisters were evicted. The icon of the “Speaker” was lost, for which the sisters grieved immensely. They settled in the nearest village and continued to live according to the rules. The new government was not enough to dissolve the monastery. During the terror of the thirties, 3 sisters: Catherine, Alexandra and Anastasia were shot as enemies of the people. They were included in the list of saints in 2001.
The territory of the monastery was used for various needs until a pioneer camp was organized there. For this purpose, the temple of Alexander Nevsky was destroyed, the church of Nicholas the Wonderworker was rebuilt. A football field was smashed at the cemetery site.
What about our icon? Quite unexpectedly, it was found in the house of a peasant who was an atheist and used the icon as a working table. And at first, he wanted to let her on firewood, hit her with an axe and blood appeared on the chip. The peasant decided to do without firewood, but showed no respect for the relic. But when the nuns asked the icon to return, he did not resist. I gave it easy. Apparently Mother Intercessor tried.
The sisters prayed and kept the icon until only one remained, Sister Eudokia. Then she handed over the “Quick-Aid” to the Church of the Cross.
And the monastery was decaying and falling apart. Pioneers no longer came to rest, buildings collapsed, the football field was overgrown with grass.
In 2000, at the Church of Alexander Nevsky, a patriarchal compound was organized, and in 2007 the territory of the monastery was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church.
Since then, the monastery has been restored. The temple of Alexander Nevsky was built. He was consecrated by Patriarch Kirill in 2013. They built cells for nuns. Opened a pilgrimage hotel.
But to return the «Swiftly» did not turn out immediately. The parishioners of the Holy Cross Church for many years began to consider it their own and did not want to part. But in the end, the “Swifter” returned home. They brought it again by the procession of the cross, again met with the reverence of the inokines led by the abbess. And it happened again on June 25.
Pilgrims from all over Russia come to worship the icon. Many miracles were performed through the prayers of the “Quick-Hearing Woman”, written evidence of this is kept in the monastery.
And the nuns will not start any business until they pray to the “native” icon. And be sure to ask daily to save Russia and preserve the monastery.
