The Holy Land Foundation is launching a fundraising effort to
create a mobile service that will connect blood donors with those who need them — in real time.
A problem that is long overdue for a solution
Every day, thousands of people find themselves in a situation where blood transfusion is not an option, but the only chance to survive. Cancer patients, women in labor, victims of accidents — they all depend on the speed with which the right donor finds out about his need.
Paradox: there are enough people willing to help, but the search system is stuck in the last century. Emergency announcements drown in social media feeds, hospitals spend hours calling, and donors simply don’t know when, where and why to go.
What we are creating
The development team is starting to create a mobile application for iOS and Android, which will
close this gap with a technological and human solution.
Key capabilities of the service:
Instant notificationsIf there is an urgent need for a rare blood type, a suitable donor will receive a push notification — without unnecessary steps and wasted time.
Personal donor calendarThe application will calculate an individual donation schedule taking into account gender and type of donation — whole blood, plasma or platelets. There is no risk of delivering ahead of schedule.
Interactive map of stations. Current addresses, opening hours, reviews — and a loyalty program with bonuses from project partners in recognition of the donor contribution.
Educational section. Preparation for the test, debunking myths, a list of contraindications — everything a beginner needs to know, in one place.
Where the funds will be directed
The collected funding will cover specific stages of development: coding and interface design, creation of a secure server infrastructure, technical integration with blood transfusion station databases, as well as support and updating of the service after launch.
Why this important — and why now
The smartphone has long become a tool for solving everyday problems. It’s time to put that power where it’s needed.
Everyone can support the project.
Make a donationand help turn an idea into technology that will one day save someone’s life. Perhaps the life of someone close to you.
