The village of Diveevo appeared in 1559. There are several versions of the origin of its name. The most common version says that the village received its name after the name of the first owner — Nogai murza Divei, the son of Mokshev Butakov.
Later, at the end of the XVII century, the main part of the descendants of Divey (Diveeev) adopted Orthodoxy. Princes Diveev owned Prince Ivanov (now Maevka), which is 3 km from Diveev. In the second half of the XVIII century in Diveev was built a small wooden church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and Archdeacon Stephen. The location of the village of Diveeva at the intersection of pilgrimage roads made it possible for travelers who went to the Sarov monastery to find shelter and rest in the church.
Under its shelter for rest, the temple took the wanderer Agafia Semyonovna Melgunova, who in 1767 began to build a stone church in Diveev in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God (consecrated in 1772).
After consecrating all three chapels of the temple, Agafya decided to establish a community. In 1788, she received a gift from the landlord Zhdanova 1300 sq. sazhenas of land near the temple, where she built three cells with outdoor buildings. Everything necessary for life, including food, they were delivered from the Sarov monastery. Shortly before his death, Mother Alexandra was visited by Sarov elders and Saint Seraphim of Sarov, whom she asked to take care of the community. One of the Diveyevo shrines is the groove of the Mother of God, located on the territory of the Holy Trinity Seraphim-Diveevo convent. According to the legend of Seraphim of Sarov, the Antichrist in the last times will not be able to overcome it.

Schedule of travel

Diveevo, the fourth lot of the Virgin is a place over which the Virgin Mary herself protects — and not in distant lands, but here, here with us.
“And as the stars of heaven and as the sand of the sea, I will multiply here the servants of the Lord God … and the grace of the Holy Spirit of God and the abundance of all the blessings of earth and heaven … will not be depleted from this place of my beloved,” the Mother of God gave the founder of the monastery to Mother Alexandra. And according to the promise of the Most Holy Virgin, the monastery is built and expanded, carries the light of faith in the world.
The opportunity to walk along the Virgin groove, drink from the Holy springs, to attach to the relics of Seraphim of Sarov – this is what a trip to Diveevo gives. Prayers come here from all corners of the earth for purification, consolation and healing.
