One woman told a story. One winter she was walking along the shore of Lake Senege and decided to rest. I sat on the bench. My grandmother was sitting on the same bench and they had a conversation. The grandmother said that her son does not love her, the daughter-in-law is very offended, she is not given a “passage”.
Catherine is an Orthodox woman, and, naturally, the conversation turned to God’s help, faith, Orthodoxy. Ekaterina said that we should turn to God and seek help from Him. My grandmother said she never went to church or prayed. And Catherine in the morning, not knowing why, put the prayers in the bag. She remembered it, took out the prayers and gave it to her grandmother.
The old lady looked at her astonishedly: «Oh, dear, won’t you disappear now?» «What’s wrong with you?» asked Catherine. “Aren’t you an angel of God?” the old woman was afraid and told her what had happened to her a week ago. The house was such an atmosphere that she felt completely superfluous and decided to commit suicide. Came to the lake and sat on a bench before throwing herself into the hole. A very handsome old man sat down with her, gray, with curly hair, with a very kind face, and asked: Where are you going? Drowning? You don’t know how scary it is, where you’re going! It’s a thousand times worse than your life right now.” He paused a little and asked again, “Why don’t you go to church, why don’t you pray to God?” She replied that she had never gone to church and had never been taught to pray. The old man asks, “Do you have sins?” She replies, “What are my sins?” I have no special sins.” And the old man began to remind her of her sins, of her bad deeds, even of those she had forgotten, of which no one could know but her. All she could do was wonder. She asked, “How can I pray if I don’t know any prayers?” The old man replied, “Come here in a week and there will be prayers for you.” Go to church and pray. The old woman asked, “What is your name?” and he replied, “My name is Nicholas.” At that moment, she turned away for some reason, and when she turned around, there was no one around.
