Get away from him. You can’t see drunk.

I went home from practice tonight. I see my grandfather, a very old man, fell on the asphalt and could not get up. All the people who pass by, shy away from him (thinking that he is drunk), and he mouses something under his nose and pulls his hands to people. My mother taught me to help everyone and everyone as much as possible. So I went up to him and said, «Can I help you?» And he can’t answer anything intelligible, just moaning and pulling his hands at me. A passing woman made a remark to me, saying, «Get away from him.» You can’t see drunk. You’ll get another one. He’s all dirty. You will! Looking closer, I saw that my grandfather had blood on his hands. It wasn’t childish terror that attacked me. When I asked him what had happened to him, I didn’t get an intelligible answer either, only a moo and he raised a packet lying nearby from the ground. There were shards of beer bottles. He picked up a few more pieces from the ground and put them in a bag. That’s why he has blood on his hands. I began to wipe his hands with wet wipes, then lift and bring him home (maybe I’m bad, but smear clothes in the blood honestly did not want …). I lifted my hand and raised my grandfather. He did not respond to my question about the address. I started muttering again. I didn’t understand him no matter how much I listened. Apparently, realizing that I was stupid, he began to tell me with his hand where to go. So I took him to a high-rise building in the same yard. He pointed to me on the intercom and showed me two numbers on his fingers. I figured it was his apartment number. I called the right apartment, and from there came an excited female voice. Grandpa’s up to something again. Within seconds, a woman and a man ran outside. They first attacked his grandfather, starting to consider how he was and whether something had happened to him. Then the man thanked me, took my grandfather in his arms and carried him to the apartment. And the woman kept asking me what they could thank me for. I refused and was about to leave when a woman suddenly asked me to wait a minute for her, as if she remembered something. She immediately rushed into the entrance and a minute later appeared with a huge basket of raspberries. «Svoyskaya»: she boasted. I thanked her, but I refused to take her. «Take, take,» she insisted. “We almost went crazy when we arrived from the country house and saw that grandfather was not home. That’s what it is. He was captured by the Germans during the war. In order not to talk, he held a high post in our country, hurt his tongue. It wasn’t about sanitation. Before he got out of captivity, the festering began and his tongue had to be amputated. Now he’s not really talking. Only sounds like deaf mute. In our yard on the playground, teenagers drank beer in the evening. Bottles go wherever they go. We have already written a complaint to the police, let them take action. Children take all this dirt in their hands, or even worse, on the glass of their legs, their hands have been cut many times. That’s the grandfather and got used to it after Sonia, my daughter, cut her leg, go after these pigs to remove the glass so that the children would not get hurt. He’s old, he’s not really holding his legs. We already told him not to go, the keys were hidden from the apartment, and he knows he walks. Once I fell like this while I came from the shift, 5 hours on the cold ground lay, no one helped. We were about to go look. We’re looking at the doorbell. Thank you.

After the woman’s story, I became numb. She put a basket in my hands and I bowed to her (yes, yes, bowing). I couldn’t find any words at the time, I went home. Halfway through, I cried. Why is this the case in this country? Why do we only think about ourselves? If you see that a person has fallen and can not get up, do not immediately attribute him to drunks. Come to him! Maybe he needs your help! And especially for young people, let’s not forget that we are people, not pigs!
