The Lord’s Prayer is a celebration of great joy.

Until recently, the temples were filled with Easter chants, and already the turn of a new holiday – the Ascension of the Lord. Celebrate it through the forty years after Easter, the date of the holiday floating.

On this day, the church and parish rejoice with all their heart for the Lord, who, after 40 days of communion with the disciples, ascended to heaven. Jesus himself commanded that day not to grieve over separation from Him, but to rejoice because he is going to the Father. There, in the heavenly chambers of the New Jerusalem, he prepares a place for all of us who have accepted with heart and confessed with their lips that Jesus is the Lord.

On the 40th day, Jewish infants were brought to the earthly temple. On the 40th day, Jesus went to the heavenly temple. There He dwells in greatness and glory; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. By his ascension Jesus broke the gates of heaven, wrote John Chrysostom. Now the road to the new city is not blocked. That’s another cause for joy. Christ ascended to open the gates and now we are assured unhindered entry into heaven.

Jesus did not leave us here on earth. The Holy Spirit was sent to us. For guidance, reproof and assistance in labor and care. By the Holy Spirit, Jesus entered his Church to dwell in it forever and ever, the famous theologian George Manzaridis is convinced.

Even in the most difficult of circumstances, Ascension reminds us of the blessings that lie ahead. The Lord’s Prayer is the greatest reward for believers.

The Church Fathers commanded us to spend this day in prayer, be sure to visit the temple. This holiday always falls on Thursday. The day before, on Wednesday, the temples serve all-night. And on Thursday, the solemn Liturgy. The priests wear white robes. These were the angels who were present at the Ascension of Christ. The Feast of Ascension is an occasion to reassess Jesus’ sacrifice, to honor His memory, to rejoice that all obstacles between us and heaven have been swept away. The path to the heavenly abode is open and depends only on us – we will follow it to the end or go astray.
