The Cathedral of the Most Holy Mother of God

The day after Christmas, Orthodox believers offer praise to the immaculate vessel, the Virgin Mary, through whom Christ was able to incarnate into human flesh. The celebration is catholic, because together with the Mother of God they remember those who were also directly connected with the birth of Jesus.

Joseph the Betrothed, who took Mary and cared for her, as the husband should take care of her;
David, king of Judah, of whose kind were the two earthly parents of Christ.
James, Jesus’ half-brother, who accompanied them on their flight to Egypt.

Christmas is considered a family holiday. This is not just an excuse to have a family dinner. It is a day of honoring family values. The family is the cradle in which children are raised. What begins to lay in the family, so will grow its descendants. Only one force can keep a family together: the power of love.

Only thanks to it we are able to accept loved ones as they are, to put up with shortcomings and see the virtues. Therefore, on January 8, it is customary to pray for all those who are connected by family ties: husbands and wives, grandparents, children and grandchildren.
Where God is at the head of the family, there is peace and tranquility. And if there are storms, faith in our Savior helps us overcome them.
Visit the cathedral service, pray for loved ones, ask the Lord for advice in a difficult situation. Remember how humbly Mary accepted the will of God. Accept difficulties and trials with humility, for they strengthen our faith and help us to grow spiritually.
