The Holy Rostov Wonderworker was a monk of the Epiphany Monastery in Rostov. By his service to the Lord he earned universal respect and was appointed Archimandrite. Later, he became an assistant to Rostov Bishop Kirill, and when he died, he became Bishop of Rostov.

His life was full of complex, sometimes terrible, often sad events. Ignatius’ death was also very unusual. For the funeral of the beloved Bishop gathered a huge number of people. Then it turned out that anyone who touches the monk will receive healing. Then it was decided not to bury the saint, but immediately put the body in the temple.

In 1920, the authorities seized the silver crayfish and the relics were stored in a simple, wooden one. In the 80s, part of the relics was in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, part was transferred to the churches of the Yaroslavl and Rostov diocese.
When divine services resumed in the Assumption Cathedral, the Archbishop of Rostov transferred part of the relics of the saint there. So the relics returned to the temple, where they rested for many years.
