Once, two sectarians came to the monastery founded by schiarchimandrite Zosima Sokur by car and began to pester everyone with the usual sectarian questions:
“How do you understand this from the Bible?” and so on. But no one paid attention to them and one of them asked:
«Where’s your old man, Zosima?»
The monks came to life:
«Ah, to your father’s house!»
Sectarians coming in. There was another nun in the family. Sectarians begin to say that Father misunderstands the Bible here and there. Zosima answers them quietly and modestly: “Where can I understand the Bible?” All my life I’ve tried to understand, nothing comes of it.
The sectarians rejoiced at this response and stressed even more:
«So you don’t understand anything! You may not know how to pray or pray.
Elder Zosima takes his abbot staff and says:
«I know the prayer!»
Then he hits the ground with his staff and says,
«May God rise again!»
And both sectarians immediately faint. Keleynitsa agitated, running around them, shouting:
Father! Killed! Police!
The elder said to her, “What are you shouting, bring the holy water and sprinkle – now we will reprimand.” The elder covered them with holy water and they come to their senses, stand up. They’re okay.
Have you seen the power of Christ’s prayer?
They:
«Saw it.»
The old man said, «Go and tell yours there.»
