Lord, save me from them, or take me to you.

One boy, 9 years old, the son of a murdered peasant, was dragged naked into the snow in the cold and demanded that he renounce God.

The boy, trembling with fear and cold, said:

«My aunt believed in God, and I do. They tortured me, and you will torture me, but I will not leave God. Let me go. The uterus is waiting for me. I’m the only one. She will starve to death if I am gone.”

“Tell me you don’t believe me,” the Communists shouted and beat him on the back and on the head, so blood appeared in the snow.

“Where is your God?” if you are starving.

But the boy held the pen, folding his fingers, as for the sign of the cross, looked up at the sky and kept repeating:

— «My God, help me!» The aunt did not give up, and I will not give up.

One communist waved his hand and left. Another shot, but the boy was unharmed.

He went away, but returned immediately.

The boy, bursting with tears, knelt down and, extending his hands to the sky, shouted loudly: “God, save me from them, or take me to You.”

Suddenly a gunshot rang out and the communist fell dead.

This other communist, shaken by the child’s deep faith, saw his soul and, having prevented further trials of the child, killed his comrade.

Taking the bloodied boy in his arms and covering him with tears with the floors of his overcoat from the frost, he brought him to his mother, helped her warm and retreat, and, kneeling down in front of an empty corner where there were images before, prayed and repented for a long time.

He helped a woman in her work. But when the rumor of this reached the “authorities”, they fled from that village, but the peasants firmly believe that they will be saved and that God will not abandon them for such a faith of the boy.
