“The one thing I have asked of the Lord, that I seek only, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days.”To see the beauty of the Lord and to visit His temple.
Psalm 26:4
The first churches in Russia appeared long before the official adoption of Christianity. There were few of them, and they had little information. But a year after the Holy Prince Vladimir baptized Rus, masters arrived from Byzantium to build churches for believers in Russia. Soon, Russian masters of skills adopted, enriched with national traditions. Since then, in any settlement, whether it is a huge city or a remote village, they tried to build a church.
For the church is the center of the spiritual life of Orthodox people. A place where communion with the Lord is filled with special meaning, solemnity and joy.
We come to the temple to participate in the general (cathedral) prayer, to attend the service, to take part in the Sacraments.
The temple is a holy place. God’s grace is in all things: in holy gifts, relics, icons. The Holy Spirit permeates this place, the image of the heavenly world.
For centuries, temples were built on donations. Tsars, princes, nobles and rich merchants donated to the temples, but most often, the funds were collected “by the whole world”. The people of the world have given their hearts, their hearts, their hearts, their hearts, their hearts, their hearts, and their hearts.
During the Soviet era, many temples were abandoned. Since the early 90s, some of them have been restored, but there are still many churches that are still in decline. We want to have prayers and prayers again. So that the new generation will join the faith and traditions of its people.
The Holy Land Foundation raises funds for the restoration of temples. Small but necessary. After all, the church is the core that unites believers, gives a new impetus to the development of Orthodoxy, serves as a place in which cultural and spiritual traditions, intertwined, create the culture of the people.
Sacrifice is God’s will. There are no parameters, no one keeps track of who gave less or more. The main thing is to give from the heart, with prayer. The widower sacrificed 2 pieces, but her act was noticed and blessed by the Lord himself.
Do not let the hand of the giver fall for a good cause!
