The resurrection of Lazarus is the last miracle the Gospels tell us about. The story of the resurrection of the man whom Jesus himself called his friend is full of instructive meaning.
What lessons can we learn from Lazarus?
Lazarus lived in the small village of Bethany, near Jerusalem. Every time he went to the city, Christ hung him and his sisters, Mary and Martha. When Lazarus fell ill, the sisters sent him to tell Jesus. But he didn’t rush to a friend. On the contrary, stayed in that place for another 2 days.
This disease is not to death, but to the glory of God.
Lesson 1:
Troubles or illnesses in our lives don’t just happen as punishment for sins. Sometimes,They come so that the glory of God may shine.
After 2 days, Christ decided to go to Judea. The apostles discouraged Him, knowing that the Pharisees were seeking to harm Him.
Lesson 2:
God’s response to our requests is not always immediate. Sometimes he’s late.
God teaches us patience and acceptance. If we wait, we may get an answer that is much moreexceeds our expectations.
Jesus already knew that Lazarus was dead. That’s what he told his students. He said he was glad he wasn’t there. Because the coming events will serve to strengthen their faith.
When they saw Jesus, the two sisters said the same thing: If he had been here, Lazarus would not have died. Their faith was complete but imperfect. They thought that only the direct presence of the Lord could deter death.
And then Christ makes a stunning statement. He claims that it is in His power to resurrect Lazarus right now, not on the last day.
Lazarus has been in the tomb for 4 days. This undoubtedly confirmed that he had indeed died, rather than falling asleep or being unconscious. The witnesses were many friends and relatives who came to support the sisters.
With a large crowd of people, Jesus told Lazarus to come out of the cave. And Lazarus came out. In veils, with pay on his face. Jesus told people to spread it.
Lesson 3:
Only God can raise the dead. But we humans can get rid of the veil. veilsuperstitions, prejudices and fears.
Many of the Jews who were there believed, but some ran to report to the Pharisees what had happened in Bethany.
Lesson 4:
A miracle just happens. How we treat him depends on us. With all my heart.
glorify the Lord, but if the heart is a stone, even the resurrection from the dead will not make it so.a man to open himself to Christ.
The Pharisees were not persuaded by a miracle, but angered. From the intention to destroy Jesus, they moved to action.
Lesson 5:
The resurrection of Lazarus was part of God’s plan. Without him, there would be no crucifixion. We oftenWe perceive events in our lives separately. Black band, white stripe. In fact.Everything in our lives is done according to God’s will. Jesus took his lot, soIt should be for us.
6 days before Peisach, Jesus again visited his friends in Bethany. Alive and healthy Lazarus greeted his friend. The next great miracle was less than a week away.
That is why they remember the resurrection of Lazarus on the Saturday before the Palm Resurrection. That was the last time 2 friends saw each other. But their meeting was not bitter, but joyful. They both knew that the resurrection was possible.
Lazarus lived for many years. Became a bishop in Crete. He led hundreds of people to faith. His relics rested in a sarcophagus, on which it was written that Lazarus, a friend of Jesus, rested there.
