Euthymius was abbot of the Suzdal Monastery for a long 52 years. He was a wise, educated teacher, a highly spiritual man. He loved to talk to Sergius of Radonezh. Euthymius lived to a very old age and died on April 1, 1404. The moment his soul departed to the Lord, the cell was filled with a wonderful aroma.
In July 1507, the then rector decided to rebuild the Transfiguration Church. A coffin was found during the work. When the lid was opened, they saw that the relics of Euthymius remained unchanged, all the clothes were preserved and in general it seemed that he was just sleeping.
In the new church, a chapel was built in the name of St. Euphemia. There and placed cancer Suzdal wonderworker.
Many miracles have happened from raki. There healed the demonic, relaxed, those who were struck by fever or falling.
Miracles served the local veneration of Euphemia. The monastery he founded became known as Evfimievsky. In 1549, the veneration was fixed by a church council. At the end of the century, there was a tradition to conduct a procession from the Transfiguration Church in the monastery to the cathedral in Suzdal.
In 1919, the tomb was opened. The relics were first exhibited as a museum exhibit, and during the war they were removed in storage. The Vladimir Museum-Reserve transferred the relics of the saint to the only functioning church of Suzdal. It was the temple of Constantine and Helena.
On July 17, we remember the saint who worked miracles during his life and after his death.
