Scripture tells us that there are 7 angels before God. Each of them has its own task. Michael, for example, is a fighter against human enemies, Raphael is a fighter against disease.
Gabriel was chosen to be the messenger of the Lord.
He inspired Moses to create the Pentateuch. The angel appeared to Daniel several times. Gabriel informed Zechariah that he would have a son (John the Forerunner), and 6 months later appeared to the Virgin Mary with the news that she would become the mother of the Messiah.
Some church fathers believe that Gabriel strengthened Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane. And on the third day after the crucifixion, he told the myrrh-bearing wives glad tidings.
2 councils are dedicated to Gabriel: one on April 8 (after the Annunciation), and the second on July 26.
On this day in Constantinople, a temple was consecrated in the name of the archistrate.
The archangel is addressed in prayer with a variety of requests. It will help to find health, make a decision, resolve a difficult situation.
