Little Theodore was lucky to be born into a good family. From childhood he was instilled in love for the Lord and his faith was so strong that nothing on earth interested him. During a feast in the house of his parents, he was especially unpleasant worldly bustle. The 14-year-old boy left home and entered a monastery. It was about 330 in Egypt.
Constantly hearing in the monastery about the exploits of St. Pachomius, the boy decided to join the brethren of the Tavennis monastery.

He was in the monastery, but Pachomius told them that by this behavior they rejected the Word of God and were deprived of the Holy Spirit. The young man was only 20 years old at that time.
When his mother found out that Theodore was in the Tavennis monastery, she came to visit him. But the young man refused to meet, did not want to be reminded of the worldly life. He told his mother that he wanted her to cut her hair too. The mother listened to the advice and retired to the convent, which was created by Sister Pachomia.
Seeing the spiritual strength of his disciple, Pachomius left the Tavennis monastery on him, and he retired to another monastery. When Pachomius fell mortally ill, it was Theodore who cared for him until his last breath. He closed the saint’s eyes and accompanied his death with prayer.
Theodore led the Tavennis monastery for a long time, and at the end of his life he became the head of all the monasteries in the district. He was blessed with many blessings and miracles.
Theodore died in 368. The brethren were very sad until they received a message from Athanasius the Great. He wrote that one should not grieve for one who has gone to a place where there is no sorrow at all. The saint also urged to take the monastic feat as a model and follow it.
