Michael Chernorizet

Martyr Michael was a noble family, but he was burdened with earthly riches. After he was orphaned, Michael gave away all his wealth and went to Jerusalem. The pilgrimage to the Holy City made such a strong impression on him that he was tonsured in the monastery of St. Sava, near Jerusalem.

One of the obediences of Michael was to sell the products of the monastery masters on the market day. There, at the bazaar, saw his wife of the local ruler and flared with passion. He commanded the young man to bring him and promised him all the good things of the earth, so that he would abandon his hermitage.
But Michael in faith was firm on the charm of the tempter did not succumb.

Then, an angry woman, ordered under guard to deliver Michael to her husband. She accused him of attacking Islam. In the palace of the ruler, the incredible happened — the king was so fascinated by the polite, educated young man that he decided to make him his close friend. Michael had to convert to Islam. But he resolutely refused. The ruler acted with a stick and a carrot, but he could not convince Michael. He told the governor that he had only 3 options:

1. Let Michael go back to the monastery
2. Adopt Christianity
3. Kill Michael.

In anger, the ruler ordered the monk to be killed. Somehow, the monks managed to obtain the body and bury the martyr in the monastery of St. Sava. There were many miracles before them.
