The story of Lucillian shows that no one is lost to the Lord, not even the pagan priest. A priest in the 2nd century was a young man. It never occurred to him that he would end his life as a Christian. In the midst of persecution against the followers of Christ, Lucillian realized the falsity of polytheism and believed with all his soul. As a priest, he enjoyed great authority, so looking at him, many Gentiles accepted Jesus as their Savior.
Then the young Christian was reported. He was thrown into prison, where several very young Christians were already languishing: Dionysius, Paul, Hypatius, Claudius. Lucillian supported the youths, strengthened their faith. When the time came for the execution, and it was terrible, they all bravely stepped into the hot oven. The miracle that God did many centuries ago in Babylon was repeated. The fire did not affect the convicts. They came out of the oven as if nothing had happened.
Alas, this did not convince the torturers, but only angered them. Lucillian was crucified, like Christ, and the young men were chopped off.
In that city lived a young girl, a rich heiress, Paula. He used his wealth to do good deeds. She visited the prisoners and brought them food and clothing. When the martyrs were executed, Paul arranged a funeral. For this, she was also arrested and thrown into the oven. And again a miracle happened. The girl did not burn, even her clothes did not burn. Then they cut off her head with a sword.
