In the monastery of Boris and Gleb, in the city of Turov, in the Belarusian land served faithfully to the bishops of Turov cook Martin. He was famous for his art of cooking lean dishes, but delicious. He fed his brethren, gave them strength. Bishop George, having ascended to the pulpit, regretted Martin, released him from his labors in old age. The former cook did not want to leave the monastery, he accepted monasticism. There he lived his days, praying hard.
Hard work in the kitchen undermined his health. Martin was sick and suffered a lot. Sometimes the pain was so severe that I could not stand it. In one of these attacks, Martin through tears and moans appealed to the saints, who were especially venerated in the monastery: Boris and Gleb. In a vision, the saints appeared to him and gave him water. The pain went away. Martin cheered up and lived a year after that. He went to the Lord peacefully, in his bed, about 1446.
Blessed Martin is dedicated to the kondak and tropar, in which he is asked to bestow the jealousy of obedience.
